Stravinsky Project 2005-2007
2007
In autumn 2007 Michael Clark’s Stravinsky Project culminated with an ambitious programme bringing together three Stravinsky scores in one evening. The project’s finale is a new work from Clark, I Do, set to ‘Les Noces’, presented alongside O, set to ‘Apollo’ and Mmm..., set to ‘The Rite of Spring’.
This final instalment of the 3 year project marked an exciting new musical collaboration between Michael Clark, conductor Jurjen Hempel, Britten Sinfonia and the New London Chamber Choir. Philip Moore and Andrew West joined forces again to present their celebrated live performance of Stravinsky’s arrangement for piano duet for ‘The Rite of Spring’.

2006
Autumn 2006 saw part two of the Stravinsky Project with the reworking of Clark’s acclaimed piece, Mmm..., set to Stravinsky’s ’The Rite of Spring’. Mmm... premiered at the Barbican Theatre on 27 October 2006 and featured live performance of Stravinsky’s arrangement for piano duet played by Philip Moore and Andrew West.
2005
O, Stravinsky Project Part 1, premiered on 1st November 2005 at the Barbican Theatre. Based on Igor Stravinsky’s ‘Apollo’, the score was performed live by the Aurora Orchestra and conducted by Robin Ticciati for the Barbican performances.
Having taken dance to its Dionysian extreme, Clark wiped the slate clean in a return to order by creating his universally acclaimed O in 1994. With sensitivity and respect to Balanchine’s original, the signature work of New York City Ballet, Clark takes ideas of fullness becoming empty, the hole becoming whole, negative space becoming positive to create a totally new framework for O - his ground zero.
